The Sheds @ 1 Fox
The latest addition to Joburg’s flourishing food market scene is The Sheds @ 1 Fox located in converted warehouses in Ferraistown. The market is cavernous and while there were a number of people, it felt rather empty simply due to how massive the space is. Unlike some of the other weekend markets, securing a table didn’t require arriving as soon as the market opened or awkwardly hovering while people finished their food. That being said, 1 Fox lacked a certain vibe on the Sunday afternoon I visited. Given how much I liked this place, I hope that the denizens of Jozi add this to their trendy market rotation because this is a welcome addition to the burgeoning Jozi food scene and I hope to visit often over the months to come.
There is secure parking across the street. Inside the food hall houses an impressive number of food vendors serving freshly prepare foods and a smaller number selling already prepared foods. There are extremely limited design vendors, but plenty of space to add additional vendors. Seriously, this place is huge. The area hosts two bars and on Sundays there is live music. After perusing and being tempted by the many offerings, I opted for a locally brewed Brewhogs Original Red Lager and an amazing pork taco from Baha Taco. Mexican food always seems to be a weakness for American expats and we get our fix whenever and wherever we can. Baha Taco did not disappoint and I am looking forward to sampling some of their other options. I finished off my feasting with pistachio gelato from La Cremosa.
The 1 Fox food hall is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, while the Good Luck Bar and four permanent food vendors are open on Thursday evenings as well. Go, and contribute to making this place a success.
This sounds like a good spot.
